Mary Pat Cummings, of Tega Cay, South Carolina, passed away on August 29th, 2022. She will be tremendously missed by her husband, Kerry Cummings, daughter, Casey Cummings, brother, Michael Lamb, and many other loving family members and friends.
Mary Pat (“MP”) was born in Beckley, West Virginia on March 15th, 1958, to Barbara and Raymond Lamb. She was an avid piccolo player in the marching band, flautist and pianist in the orchestral band, and rifle squad member of Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduating high school, she attended Marshall University and Forsythe Technical Community College. Both institutions helped her find her true calling of becoming a dedicated pediatric nurse. She started her career as a NICU air care transport nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was also a NICU nurse at Carolinas Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. After her time in the NICU, she worked with women and pediatric patients in the oncology clinics at Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Children’s Hospital. After retiring, she volunteered every week at the Community Café in Fort Mill, South Carolina, providing food to families in the local area.
All those who knew her loved her, evident by the outpouring of friends, family, and coworkers that have reached out to her family with stories, memories, and pictures from over the years. She was the most devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, nurse, and dog rescuer. Her family will ensure that her final resting place will be at the beach, her favorite place to relax and explore. In lieu of any flowers, please make any donations in her memory to the Humane Society of York County located in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
