Mary Frances Riley Franklin 93, of Manassas died September 9, 2016, in Fort Mill, SC.
Proceeded in death by her parents, Henry F. Riley and Lucy Breeden Riley both of Manassas, Virginia.
She was a member of St. John Methodist Church and Red Hat Society of Fort Mill, SC. Before moving to SC, she was a member of the Manassas Brethren Church, the Catharpin Homemakers, the Prince William School Food Service, Divine Dinner Club, and Park West Lioness. She graduated from the Institute of Banking as a bank analyst in California, and she received her associates' degree as an Institutional Food Manager from Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale. She retired from Prince William School Food Service after 22 years service. She was a talented artist and world traveler.
She is survived by her husband, D W "Don" Franklin, five children, Sondra Dudley of Algonac, MI, Medford "Bud" Beach of Philippines, Richard Franklin of Virginia Beach, VA, Joni Sparks of Fort Mill, SC, and Robert Franklin of Ashburn, VA. She has 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 12:30 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St, Manassas, VA with service following at 1:30. Burial will immediately follow at Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, VA.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Providence Care of York County, SC for all their care and love to mom and the family. During the trying times their professionalism and understanding of all our needs surpassed expectations. We could not have handled the past few months without them.
The family would also like to thank Palmetto Funeral Home, Fort Mill, SC for their thoughtfulness and helping hands through this trying time.
