Mary H. Smith

Mary Higdon Smith, 90, of 4241 Dye Road, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Piedmont Medical Center. A native of Franklin, NC, Mrs. Smith was born March 5, 1919 a daughter of the late William and Georgia Belle Corbin Higdon. She was a homemaker and member of Harmony Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard S. Smith. Surviving are her daughters Willda Jo Smith of the home; Lillian Peeler and her husband Ray of Catawba, Betty Gwin and her husband Joe of Catawba; one brother Wade Higdon of Franklin; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at Grandview Memorial Park on S. Cherry Road. The family will receive friends at the home.
