MARY MILLER HOLMAN (1926-2017) Mary Miller Holman, 91, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away at home on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Mrs. Holman was born June 13, 1926, near Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late James Raymond Miller and Eron Hoskins Miller. She moved to Adairville, Kentucky, at nine years old and was a Kentucky resident for most of her life. She married her surviving husband of 73 years, Ralph Lear Holman in 1943. She attended the Business University and Western Kentucky State College and became a long -term resident of Bowling Green, Kentucky. She taught at College High for sixteen years and at Western Kentucky University for fifteen years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bowling Green where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She enjoyed her church family, quilting, needlepointing, sewing, knitting, and collecting glassware. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Jean Miller Kemp, brother, Bobby Ray Miller, and sister-in-law, Peggy Miller, all of Russellville, Kentucky. She was loved and admired by her son, Joseph Ralph Holman, MD, and wife, Amy Holman of Gastonia, North Carolina; grandchildren, Erin Holman Pieper, Julie Holman McCarter, and Joseph Collings Holman; grandsons-in-law, Eric Pieper and Matthew McCarter. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Norwood Kemp. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, September 17, at 2:30 pm, at the Park Pointe Village Community Room, 3025 Chesbrough Blvd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
