Mary Alice Bishop Kelly, 87, of 1083 Farmpond Lane, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Wayne T. Patrick House. A native of Dayton, IN, Mrs. Kelly was born March 6, 1922 a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Clara Isabelle White Bishop. She was a retired cafeteria Manager from WBTV Channel 3 after 24 years of service , and 8 years as Cafateria Manager with U.S. Foods. She was known as Back Stage Betty and she hosted the radio show Back Stage Betty Carolina House Party on 107.9. Mrs. Kelly made Mitchell Bomber Tanks for Aluminum Company of America during WWII and was of the Presbyterian Faith; she was preceded in death by her husband Marson F. Kelly who hosted The Word of The Day on WBTV and a son Larry Bishop. Surviving are a stepdaughter Elaine Klotz and her husband Wayne of Rock Hill. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Kelly will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens with Pastor Kenneth Rabon officiating.
