Mary Elizabeth Lowder Mcclain

April 5, 1942 — February 8, 2017

Fort Mill - Mary Elizabeth Lowder McClain, 74, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at White Oak Manor - Rock Hill.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, at the Fort Mill Church of God, with Pastor Debi Dykes officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.

Born and raised in Fort Mill, Mary is the daughter of the late J.D. and Grace Lipe Lowder. She was a member of the Fort Mill Church of God. She will be remembered as a lady who loved going on trips with her family to places like the beach and the mountains. Family gathering were always special especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was always very close to her sisters. Although she was sick most of her life, spending time with her grandchildren always helped her to feel better. She enjoyed sitting outside visiting and talking with her neighbors. One of her favorite things to do was listen to Gospel Music whether it was on T.V. or on her C.D. player.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne McClain and his wife Ashley; three sisters, Myrtle Douglas, Clara Lambert and husband Wayne, and Judy Moore and husband Fred; two grandchildren, J.D. McClain and Hannah McClain. Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Tommy, and Bubba Lowder; and a sister, Shirley Mason.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, at the Fort Mill Church of God.
