Mary Agnes (Reilly) Miello

June 20, 1944 — December 12, 2024

Charlotte, NC

Mary Agnes (Reilly) Miello, 80, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Born in New Hyde Park, New York, in 1944 to Leo and Agnes Reilly, Mary grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and a close-knit community. She graduated from high school in New Hyde Park, where she met her soulmate and the love of her life, Anthony J. “Tony” Miello. The two married in 1964 and shared an extraordinary 60 years of love and partnership.

In 1973, Mary and Tony moved to Smithtown, New York, where they raised their three children and built a life filled with cherished memories. After several family vacations to their favorite place, Marco Island, Florida, they decided to make it a permanent second home in 1986. Later in life, they relocated to Fort Mill, South Carolina, continuing their journey together in a new chapter.

Mary was not only a devoted wife but also an indispensable partner in business.  For three decades, she worked alongside Tony to build their thriving carting business on Long Island. As office manager, accountant, billing manager—essentially wearing every hat imaginable—Mary’s tireless dedication and incredible work ethic were instrumental to the company’s success.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary embraced life with passion and enthusiasm. An avid bowler for many years, she participated in numerous tournaments and treasured the friendships she formed through the sport. She also had a deep love for travel—Las Vegas held a special place in her heart as one of her favorite destinations. Whether enjoying the excitement of the casino or exploring new locales with loved ones by her side, Mary approached every adventure with joy.

Mary will be remembered for her boundless generosity toward friends and family alike. Whether baking treats for birthdays and holidays offering help at a moment’s notice, or just picking up the phone to brighten someone’s day -  she always put others first.  Her sharp wit and wicked sense of humor brought lightness to every situation; she had an uncanny ability to find laughter even in life’s challenges.

As a mother and grandmother ("Mom" and "Grammy"), Mary was fiercely loving and supportive. She delighted in spoiling her children and grandchildren with affection and care. Mary’s nurturing heart went way beyond her own family. During her children’s childhood, their home was always a source of warmth and love for anyone entering. It was an epicenter of family and friends coming and going (and sometimes staying). It was because of this welcoming spirit, she became affectionately known as “Mother Mary.”

She is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony J. Miello, and their three children: Elizabethe (Miello) Alford (Christopher), Matthew Miello (Joanna), and Joseph Miello. Mary was also a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Mikayla Miello, Annabelle Alford, Bridget Alford, Layla (Beaucom) Miello , Willow Miello, and Knox Miello. She is further survived by her brother John Reilly (Linda) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Agnes Reilly, and her two brothers, Daniel Reilly and James Reilly.

Mary Agnes Reilly lived a full life marked by love, laughter, hard work, and generosity. Her memory will forever live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and love. May those who knew her find comfort in celebrating the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
