Mary Pettus Morton, age 89, passed away December 7, 2015 at CMC-Pineville in Charlotte. She was born March 30, 1926 to the late Duncan Pettus and Beulah McGuirt in Lancaster County. Mary was an active member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Indian Land and was a member of the Eastern Star. She retired from Springs Industries where she was a weaver. She was a very loving mom and MawMaw.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Spencer Efird as well as her second husband Rayford Morton. She was also preceded in death by her sister Martha McKeller. Survivors include her daughter Judy Efird Helms (Wayme) of Fort Mill, and her step-daughter Nancy Bost, also of Fort Mill. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Lorie (Tommy) Collins, Amy Turner, and Brian (Candace) Helms; six great-grandchildren: Alex (Jimmy) Belk, Jordan Ford, Kennedy Helms, Reece Helms, Noah Turner, and Ragan Turner; one great-great-grandchild: Kirkley Belk, as well as two step-grandchildren: Rhonda (Rusty) Surratt and Mike (Kim) Bost. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at 2 PM at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Reverend Joel McMakin will be presiding.
