Mary McFadden Murphy, 92, of Edgemoor, passed away Saturday December 6, 2014. She was the wife of the late Edward Young Murphy. She is survived by her four children, Donna (Tim) McCall, Eddie, Dennis (Becky), and Pat (Terri), all of Edgemoor; her 8 grandchildren, Leslie (Johnny) Gaston, Brian (Bian), Jennifer, Darius (fiancé Brittany), Scott, Kristi, Callie, and Makenna; and her 3 great-grandchildren, Andra, Aidan, and Peyton Reece. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Susan Murphy. Born in Fort Lawn on April 13, 1922, Mary Murphy was the daughter of the late William Paul McFadden and Maddie Collins McFadden. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1943 with a bachelor's degree. She enjoyed teaching and substituting in the Chester County public school system well into her eighties. Alongside the classroom, she taught Sunday school at Edgemoor ARP Church until her nineties. Mary was a devout member of many community/religious groups, including, Eastern Star, FCL, Golden Age Club, Edgemoor ARP Women's Ministry, and many others. She loved to cook, do puzzles, and play card games. She attended Lewisville sporting events and was known as "Maw-Maw Murphy" by all of the fans. The Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm, Monday December 8th at Edgemoor ARP Church with Reverend Jim McLurkin officiating. A graveside service will follow at Edgemoor ARP Church's cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church's multipurpose room. The family is being served by Bass Cauthen Funeral Home.
