Mrs. T.H. (Mary Jenny "Precious") Pearson, former beloved educator of the Rock Hill School District expired recently at her home. The funeral will be this Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church with the Reverend Jeff Lingle officiating. Precious was the daughter of the late Bishop Plato Massey and Nan Jones Massey. She was a retired educator who elevated students to higher levels of learning for many years. Her master's degree was obtained at Winthrop University and her bachelor's degree at Johnson C. Smith University. Her secondary foundation was laid at Emmett Scott High School. She was a member of many and varied organizations. With compassion she served with the American Red Cross, and was a cherished member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa, The Fine Arts Association of Rock Hill, Winthrop Alumni Association, Friends of Dacus Library, American Legion Auxiliary, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., where she was loved and respected by many. As a member of the National Teacher's Association for Country-Western Dance, Precious instructed the feet of many in her exuberant love for line dancing. She reached statewide fame as she astonished audiences with her skill and enthusiasm.Preceding her heavenly ascent is her loving husband, Mr. Ted Harper Pearson. Her earthly life will continue in the hearts of her daughter Wanda De Veaux Pearson, her grandchild Alexander Julian James and a host of loving relatives, friends, educational associates and students.Memorials may be made to the Winthrop University Department of Financial Aid to be used for teacher education scholarships.
