Mary Ann Powell

July 27, 1940 — October 20, 2013

Mary Ann (Sawyer) Powell began her glorious journey on the day of the Lord, Sunday, October 20, 2013. As God reached for her hand and the family held her in a close embrace the sparkle of her beautiful green eyes faded as she took her last breath. She has been freed from her earthly bonds and now rejoices with the heavenly choir. She will always remain beautiful in the hearts and souls of family, friends, and everyone blessed to meet her. Ann is survived by her husband (Henry), her daughter Kathy and husband (Ray), their children Colby and Corey, and her son Keith and wife (Beth). The only girl of six children; she is survived by one brother, James Carter Sawyer and wife (Wanda) of California. Ann retired from the state school system after working for Tega Cay Christian and Gold Hill Middle Schools. Most importantly, she worked tirelessly and selfishly as a mother and grandmother. Ann was never concerned with personal needs or gain, working for the Lord by serving others. Her thoughts and actions were always in service to God, her family, church, and community. Services will be Sunday October 27th at Carolinas Cornerstone Church, Ft. Mill, SC with Pastor Barry Yates officiating. Family visitation is 2 pm followed by a glorious celebration of Ann's life at 3 pm. The family would like to thank Gentiva Home Health Care nurse Shane and the doctors, nurses and staff of CMC Pineville. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Carolinas Cornerstone Building Fund, 1790 Gardendale Road, Fort Mill, SC 29708. Be sure to note "In memory of Ann Powell" in the special instructions box.
