Mary Ella Russell

Mary Ella Comer Russell, 92, formerly of Rock Hill, passed away Tuesday May 11, 2010 at Grandstrand Healthcare in Myrtle Beach. A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Russell was born November 29, 1917 a daughter of the late John Stoll Comer, Sr. and Annie Lee Roach Comer. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she was a member of Circle #9, the Women's Society of Christian Services, United Methodist Women and organized the Eletian Social Club in 1957. In addition to her parents Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband William Lindsay Russell. Surviving are her daughters Patty Russell Carroll and her husband Charles E. Jr., of Rock Hill, Rena Russell Holmes and her husband Craig of Surfside Beach,; brother Leon Comer of Rock Hill; sister Eula Comer Russell of Rock Hill; six grandchildren Rusty Carroll and wife Donna, Chris Carroll and wife Cindy, Kellye King and husband Merritt, Jamie Allen, Cody Sluder and Will Sluder; ten great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Russell will be held Thursday at 2:30pm at St. John's United Methodist Church with Reverend Ken Owens and Reverend Sandra King officiating. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery. The family will be at the residence of the grandson Rusty Carroll 1250 Reese Roach Road in Rock Hill.
