Mary Turner Bradford Sturgis, 93, died on March 24, 2010 at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, SC. Mrs. Sturgis was born on April 11, 1916 in Beth Shiloh, SC. She was the daughter of the late Nannie Belle Ramseur and William Thomas Bradford. She is preceded in death by her husband John Louie Sturgis, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her sister Edith Howell and brothers Howard and Clarence Bradford. Mrs. Sturgis is survived by her sons John Louie Sturgis, Jr. of Largo, FL and Carlton Sturgis of Rock Hill, SC. She has one granddaughter, Wendi Sturgis and husband Alex Yong of New York City. She also is survived by lifelong friends, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sturgis graduated from York High School and Perry Business College. She worked as an office assistant for the FBI in Washington, D.C. during WWII. Before retiring, she worked in the office of M. Lowenstein & Sons. She became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church after having been a member of Sylvia Circle Baptist Church where she was an adult Sunday School teacher, circle leader and active in the WMU. There will be a graveside service Saturday March 27, 2010 at 11:00am at Grandview Memorial Gardens on Cherry Rd. Dr. Shelton Sanford officiating. Visitation will follow at the gravesite.
