Massie Johnson Melton

Massie Johnson Melton, 87, of 965 Holland Road, passed away, Sunday April 10, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Melton was born in McConnells, SC on June 11, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Issac Isaiah and Emma Jane Wyatt Johnson. She was a homemaker and lifetime member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Boyd Melton and a daughter Barbara Hurlocker. Surviving are a son Kenneth B. Melton and his wife Deloras of Rock Hill; two daughters Gloria Hope and her husband Ronald, Gerry Shugart and her husband John all of Rock Hill; four grandchildren Kristy Hurlocker, Kevin Melton, Dustin Melton and his wife Michelle and Jason Melton; four great grandchildren Blake Melton, Daniel Melton, Trever Ash and Stephen Melton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm Tuesday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Melton will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Reverend Daniel Smoak officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 4858 McConnells Highway, York, SC 29745 or the Alzheimer's Association National Office 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
