Matthew Timothy Greene was born on August 18, 1987 in Charlotte, NC. Matthew passed away in his sleep on December 03, 2011 at the young age of 24. He was a Fort Mill native, having spent his whole life in Fort Mill. In 2005, he graduated from Fort Mill High School and soon after began his career as a cook and baker. In 2006, he met the love of his life, Melanie Denise Watkins. After five years, they were married on June 25, 2011, surrounded by their family and friends. Matthew came from a family who always provided him with unconditional love and support. There was nothing that he would not do for them or his wife's family. Matthew was known for his "urban" style. He had a passion for music and hoped to one day work in the rap music industry. He had an infectious smile and always knew how to make those around him smile as well. Matthew had a heart of gold, and would do anything for anyone. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards or having guitar jamming sessions with his dad and uncle. Matthew loved his wife more than anything in this world and enjoyed taking trips with her, eating ice cream, cuddling on the couch, making up dances, and making each other smile. Matthew loved children and couldn't wait to have a family of his own. He is survived by his loving wife, Melanie Watkins Greene; his parents, Timothy and Anna Marie Greene; his sister and brother-in-law, Amanda "Mimi" and Matthew Bellenger; his paternal grandmother, Mary Greene; and his maternal grandmother, Doris Reeves. Matthew will be missed by so many people, for he touched the lives of all those that he met during his short time on Earth. Services will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC on December 10, 2011. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. and the memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Baxter Community Center. The family has asked for donations to be sent to 144 Villa Lake Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708 in lieu of flowers.
