Rock Hill, South Carolina - Daughter of late Melvin & Margarite Lovern. Melva was born in Belmont NC and grew up in Greenville SC where she met Jimmy Center. They were married on December 26, 1958, in a ceremony by her uncle in Pumpkin Town, SC. The beloved couple were married for 51 years before his death in 2010.
She is survived by her two sons, Barry Center (Darla) and Britt Center (Cissie). She has four grandson's Brad Center, Blake Center (Katie), Jimmie Blackwelder (Huong), and Kyle Blackwelder (Elle) and six great grandsons Jordan, Kayden, Aiden, Channing, Easton, and Logan.
For the last 6 years she lived at Carolina Gardens in York SC. Melva will be remembered for her happy zest for living, the joy she brought to all who knew her. She loved watching football and NASCAR on television. She loved going to the beach, always had a glass of iced tea in her hand and loved a good book while sitting with her feet in the sand.
Melva attended Park Ridge Baptist Church of Rock Hill SC.
A memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 AM September 25th at the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home of Rock Hill SC, with Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating.
