Melvin Mackey

Mr. Melvin Mackey, 66, of Rock Hill, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 16, 2014. He was born on August 12, 1947 in York County, SC to the late Mr. Fill and Mrs. Janie Mackey. He was preceded in death by three brothers: John L., Phillip, and James Mackey. Melvin leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Gurdine Cherry Mackey; 2 sons, Melvin Foster of Lancaster, SC and Gerald Mackey of Rock Hill, SC; 1 daughter, Mrs. Dawn (Lonnie) McCorey of Rock Hill, SC; 3 grandchildren, Gericka Cunningham of Rock Hill, SC, Daiveon and Zoey Mackey of New Jersey; 1 great-grandchild, McKinley Cunningham of Rock Hill, SC; 1 brother, McCecil Mackey of Philadelphia, PA; 3 sisters, Rosa Jones, Diana Johnson of Rock Hill, SC and Mae Francis George of Omaha, NE; 1 uncle, John Mackey of Woodleaf, NC; brother-in-laws, George (Eliza) Cherry, Melvin (Gladys) Cherry of Rock Hill, and Frankie Cherry of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-laws, Ruby Mackey of Catawba, SC, Mary Mackey, Janice (Alexander) Jones, Barbara (Sandy) Kennedy and Zelda Brown, all of Rock Hill, SC. His best friend, Hezekiah Massey of Catawba, SC, and a host of Nephews, Nieces, other relatives, and friends. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Mackey will be held 2pm Monday, June 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Christian Ministries.
