Michael David Smith

Michael David Smith, 71, of Fort Mill, SC, and a former resident of Cookeville, TN, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, with his loving wife by his side after a hard struggle with esophageal cancer. Born September 3, 1952, in Corpus Christi, TX, he was the son of the late Carl Wallace and Janice Naydean Abernathy Smith. Mike was an extremely hard worker and a devout Christian. He enjoyed spending time with his family going to the beach and traveling. Through his battle with cancer, he was given the opportunity to create a cancer support group in Cookeville, TN, before moving to Fort Mill, SC, which is still active to this day.

Mike is survived by his adoring wife, Judy Kay "Nana" Smith; children in love: Ryan Mullenax, Stephanie Mullenax, and Briana Mullenax (Jeremy Conner); brother, Fred Smith (Vi); sister, Melinda Huff; grandchildren: Cameron Mullenax, Abigail Williams, Currin Williams, Lincoln Conner and Jack Conner; nephew, Jeff Smith; niece, Catherine Krantz (Andrew); and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Williams, and brother-in-law, Wayne Huff.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later time.
