Michael Dennis Hopey

Michael Dennis Hopey, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, with his devoted loving wife of 53 years, Jane Walkauskas, by his side after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. Mike was preceded in death by his father Michael Hopey and mother Anne Judith Korba Hopey.

Born in Pittsburgh on July 2, 1951, Mike’s life was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, he touched the lives of many through his kindness and integrity.

Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving father to Marcie, Sara (Corey) Gildea and Mike (Michelle) and the proudest Pepaw to Parker, Tenley, Madelyn and Connor Gildea. Also grandfather to Lucas and Brayden Hopey and brother to Linda (Robert) Miller.  His deep affection for his loved ones was evident in everything he did, from the simple everyday moments from grand celebrations to always being their #1 fan.

In addition to his cherished role as a family man, Mike was admired for his honesty and high-quality service as owner of Hopey Heating and Cooling in the north hills of Pittsburgh for 30 years. Mike enjoyed his relationships with his long-term clients, fellow Bryant Dealers, Bryant Territory Managers and counter salesmen. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and compassion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A private service in honor of Mike’s life will be held on October 11, 11am at All Saints Catholic Church in Lake Wiley, South Carolina. Devoted friends and family are invited to gather to share stories and honor my husband who lived his life with grace and love.

Mike’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished by his family and all who knew him. We are blessed to now have Mike as our Guardian Angel in Heaven.
