Michael Daniel Walsh

Michael Daniel Walsh, age 82, passed away peacefully in his home in Indian Land, South Carolina on Thursday, February, 22, 2018. Born in Blue Island, Illinois to Bill and Carol Walsh, Mike attended Mount Carmel High School and joined the Marines upon graduation. After serving his country faithfully, Mike joined the food distribution industry with the Morrison & McCluan company and spent the rest of his career at Sysco. In 1972, he became one of the first Eucharistic ministers in Pittsburgh and remained a faithful servant to God throughout his life. Mike was heavily involved as a volunteer with both the Society of Saint Vincent DePaul and the Bridge Over Troubled Waters organization, and embraced his role as a messenger of God by leading Pre Cana and Marriage Encounters. His infectious spirit enriched the lives of everyone around him and has inspired us all to live life with a kind heart, infinite generosity, and a humble disposition.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Katie (Kay); his children, William, Kevin and wife Mary Beth, Maureen and husband Jim Keefe, and Michael and wife Joy; his grandchildren, Brendan and wife Kendyl, Collin and wife Amanda, Dillon and wife Alex, Kevin, Chelsea and husband Seth Stake, Liam, Michael Daniel, Bridget, Gavin, and Connor; his great grandchildren, Townsend, Sullivan, Eleanor Hayes, and Donovan; and his sister, Carol Raderstorf and Ida Mae Walsh. In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his siblings Danny, Pat Bohne, and Colleen.

The viewing will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Palmetto Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2049 Carolina Place Drive Ft. Mill, SC 29708 and the Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Hwy Lancaster, SC 29720.
