Rock Hill, SC - Mike (Stumpy) Yarbrough passed away Friday evening, May 26, 2023, in his home surrounded by loved ones.
Mike was born in Chester, SC, raised and grew up in Great Falls, SC, and later moved to Rock Hill, SC. He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Betty Yarbrough, his sister, Margaret Northsworthy, his brother-in-law, Tommy Evans, his son-in-law, Greg Hunter, and his father-in-law, Kenneth Eversole. Mike is survived by his wife, Kimberly Yarbrough; his children, Matthew Yarbrough, Brittany Hunter, Madey Gleaves (Michael), and Peyton Yarbrough. In addition, his grandchildren, Avery Hunter, Shyan Hunter, Briggs Hunter, and Adaleigh Hunter; his siblings, Barbara Evans, Robbie Yarbrough (Sharon); brothers-in-law, Ed Northsworthy, Ken Eversole (Lauren); his nieces, Tammy Snipes (Ken), Judy Puckett (Chris), and Ashlyn Boykin (Brandyn), and Carragan Eversole; nephews, Aaron Blackmon, Caden Eversole, Greyson Yarbrough; great nephew, Zach Snipes (Bryanna); great nieces, Lilly Puckett and Callie Puckett; his mother-in-law, Marsha Eversole, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
Mike worked at Bowater Paper Company, now known as, New Indy Container Board, for 43 years as a master craftsman. He made lifelong friends and worked hard everyday to fulfill his various responsibilities and tasks. He retired July 1, 2022.
Mike is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1883 Saluda Road, Rock Hill, SC. He served in various callings and had many responsibilities. He enjoyed serving others and loved his church family.
The visitation will be held on Friday, June 2 from 6-8 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1883 Saluda Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The funeral will be Saturday, June 3 at 1:00 pm, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1883 Saluda Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The burial will be after the service at Forest Hills Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC. In lieu of flowers, Mike requested donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
All arrangements will be conducted by Whitesell Funeral Home.
