Mildred Bigger

Services for Mildred Bigger will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March, 5, 2011 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends before the funeral from 2-3pm at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park following the service. Ms. Bigger died March 2, 2011. She was born September 24, 1915 in York County, SC the daughter of Richard Barnett Bigger and Sara Emma Brandon Bigger. She attended nursing school in Gastonia, NC and Bellevue Hospital in New York City. She worked for Celanese Corporation as an industrial nurse and later in the infirmary at Winthrop University. She was a longtime member of O.A.P.C. and a loyal volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Surviving are nieces Cindy Scott, Barbara Brewer of Rock Hill, Sandra Gordon of Fort Mill, and Gail Pulk of Columbia; nephews Terry Bigger of Knoxville, TN and Jim Fennell of Lexington, KY; also surviving are sisters-in-law Grace Bigger of Rock Hill and Jean Bigger of Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. Memorials may be made in honor of Ms. Bigger to Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
