Mildred Maxie Kitchen

February 13, 1929 — February 6, 2017

Rock Hill - Mrs. Mildred Maxie Kitchen, 87, died Monday, February 6, 2017, at her home.

Services will be private.

A native of Pineville, NC, Mrs. Kitchen was a daughter of the late Dwight M. Ashley and Florence Ashley. She was retired from Dillard's Department Store, and a past employee Ivey's Department Store. She was also a member of the Pineville Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Kitchen was a tough, loyal, military wife who went through Hell and did it very well. No contentions and no B.S...she was the backbone of the family, keeping the family together during hard and trying times.

Surviving are three sons, Mike Kitchen, Gary D. Kitchen (Hilda), and Jeff Kitchen; two daughters, Kliffia Harmon, and Deborah Walden; one brother, Pete Ashley (Phyliss); three sisters, Dot Ashley (Ray), Donna Ashley (JR.), and Muriel Griffin; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Earl Thomas Kitchen; one brother, George Ashley Kitchen; and one sister, Virginia Stowe.

The family would like to thank three very special women, Stacy Jacobson and Valerie Evans of Medi-Home Hospice and our dear friend Kendra Gordon whom we appreciate more than words can describe.

Memorial donations may be made to Medi-Home Hospice, 1470 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Whitesell Funeral Home is serving the Kitchen family.
