Miles Hoffman Lineberger, Jr., 88, of Catawba, SC passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at CMC in Pineville, North Carolina. Miles was the son of the late Miles Hoffman Lineberger, Sr and Nellie Harrill Lineberger . He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Louise Ziv, Betty Crosby, Lucy Elkins, and Ethel Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faye J. Lineberger and daughters and sons-in-law Anna Faye and Steve Turney of Rock Hill, Helen and Chuck Myers of Catawba, and Rita and Mike Armour of Catawba. Also, Miles is survived by his five grandchildren Drew Turney of Fort Mill, Stephanie Turney (Jamie Lipe), Mark Armour (Kelly), Katie Starnes (Dalton), and Keli Myers and two sisters, Nell Ferguson of Catawba, SC and Henrietta Duncan of Columbia, SC and numerous special nieces and nephews. Miles retired from Rock Hill Concrete Company after 30 years of service. He was a life-time member of Catawba Methodist Church where he held numerous positions. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 86th Mountain Infantry and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of American Legion and Elks Lodge. He was a past state and York County director of SC Farm Bureau and a member of York County Cattlemen's Association. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Lineberger will be held 3pm Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Catawba United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Drennen officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Catawba United Methodist Church, PO Box 160, Catawba, SC 29704.
