Miss Mary Lee Ramsay "T" Ticktin

April 13, 1918 — August 14, 2014

Mary Lee Ramsay Ticktin, 96, died peacefully on August 14, 2014. She was born on April 13, 1918 in Spartansburg, SC to the late James B. and Martha H. Ramsay. "Miss T" was employed as an English Teacher at Rock Hill High School and as a Guidance Counselor at Northwestern High School until her retirement in 1985. In her retirement years she enjoyed knitting, her bridge club, and a fierce game of Scrabble. Time with family and friends were greatly cherished. As a graduate of Duke University, she was the number one fan of Blue Devil basketball. She was a proud member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Thomas Ticktin (Margaret) of Moore, SC; daughters Martha Ghent of York, SC, Barbara Rockholt (David) of Rock Hill, SC, Pam Edwards (Ken) of Fort Mill, SC; and her good friend Heakyung Lee of Rock Hill, SC. She leaves eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she ws preceded in death by a sister, Ruth R. Cheney of Anderson, SC, 2 brothers, Ogden Ramsay of Owings Mills, MD and Bertrand Ramsay of Silver Springs, MD. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for her caregivers at Westminster Rehab and Interim Healthcare for taking such loving care of her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice. Private services will be held at a later date.
