Morris "Mo" Haynes, 77, of Indian Land, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2019 at Atrium Health of Pineville surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 22, 1941 in Gastonia, NC, son of the late William Oliver and Maude (Smith) Haynes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Haynes, Glenn Haynes and Charles Haynes and his nephew, Dennis Haynes.
Morris was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. An old rock and roll musician, Mo enjoyed all types of music and singing in the choir of both Pleasant Hill United Methodist and Southpark Christian Churches. He loved telling jokes, especially with his old friend, Frank, watching movies with his best buddy, Gary, playing cards, hanging out with his friends and family, and watching the Carolina Panthers (he and his wife, Kay, were original PSL owners and have their names engraved on the Panther's statue on the East wall). He spent the last few years of his life struggling with dementia- but now, he is free of that bodily prison and we know that he is with us in spirit, everywhere- in the wind, the sun, the sky, and the stars, and now, he is able to fly free again.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of almost 56 years, Kathryn "Kay" Haynes; daughters, Kelly Lyn Webb and husband, Henry M. Webb, and Kristen Lee Haynes, all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Patrick Webb, Alexander Webb and Nicholas Webb; nieces, Kristie Compton and husband, Brian, Brenda Liberty and husband, John and Jerri Mularski and husband, Alan; nephews, Donald Haynes and wife, Dee, and his nephews Michael Haynes and Steve Haynes; by his sister-in-law, Paula Hirneisen and husband, Jack and their son, Robert Hirneisen and wife, Mona; brother-in-law, David Proper and wife, Bonnie and their daughters, Joy Proper and Eve Proper.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Southpark Christian Church on Friday, September 6th, at 6:15 pm. There will be a ‘drop in' visitation with the family prior to the Memorial Service from 4:30 to 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church / Music Fund, located at 238 Fort Mill Highway, Fort Mill, SC 29707. Please earmark "music fund' on your donation.
