Mrs. Nancy Bell Brown-Massey, 93, of Standard St., Catawba, passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at her residence. Born in Leslie, South Carolina February 14, 1916 Mrs. Massey was the daughter of the late Nancy Marshall Brown and Charlie Brown. She was educated in the Leslie School System and worked as a Dietitian at Hillcrest School and also a Domestic Engineer, retiring after 40 years of service. Mrs. Massey was a member of the Tabernacle AME Zion Church where she was an active member of the Senior Choir, Usher Board and Missionary Society . Until the time of her failing health she was a member of Eastern Star #309. Surviving with cherished loving memories are one son, Charlie(Mary) Massey of Catawba, SC, one daughter Brenda Darlene Massey-Jones of Rick Hill, SC, twenty grandchildren, Jackie L.(Vivian L.) Massey of Greenwood, SC, Jerry Wylie of Detroit, Mich., Ponzella Massey, Cynthia Walton, Gena Walton, Michelle Walton, Keisha Walton all of Alexandra, VA., Joey(Deborah)Massey of Catawba, SC, Nancy Massey of Lexington, NC, Dee Dee Massey-Bush, Niki Massey, of Salisbury, NC, Towanna Stinson, Robert Nicolas of Spencer, NC, John W. Massey of Greenville, SC, Laronda Massey, Ebony Jones, Jack Jones, lll or Rock Hill, SC, Zedrick Jones of Fairfax, SC, Lisa Boyd and Mary Mobley of Rock Hill, SC, thirty seven great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, three nieces, Delois Brown Prosser, Margarette Wylie, both of Rock Hill, SC and Mary Brown of Washington, DC, Three Nephews, Robert Brown, and Calvin Brown both of Salisbury, NC, and Larry Brown of Rock Hill, SC, a special friend, Carrie Dunlap of Catawba. Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband Fredrick Massey, two daughters, Freddean Wylie and Dorothy Walton, two sons, Johnny W. Massey and Joe Lewis Massey. Mrs. Massey was the last surviving member of her generation. The Family will receive friends at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, Friday, December 4, 2009 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm . A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Massey will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Tabernacle AME Zion Church by the Rev. Randolph Ingram. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family has entrusted Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with the care of Mrs. Nancy Bell Brown-Massey.
