Nancy Ann Collins Orr

Mrs. Nancy Ann Collins Orr passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2011 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. She was born in Edgemoor, S.C. on October 24, 1927. She is survived by four children, Diane Berinsky and husband, Cliff, of Rock Hill, Patsy Surratt and husband, Rick, Susan Gunderson and husband, Tom, and Bill Orr and wife Sammie, all of Edgemoor; seven grandchildren, Leslie Trier and husband, Dan, of Athens, GA, Betsy Black and Gabby Orr of Edgemoor, Samantha Berinsky, Jenna Berinsky, Erin Brady, and Eric Craig all of Rock Hill. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Carolyn Barnes. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Orr, and parents Bill and Anna Collins. Nancy graduated from Edgemoor High School in 1944, and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She was a member of First A.R.P. Church in Rock Hill, where she sang in the choir and was an active member of Spiritual Development Sunday School Class. For many years, she was a member of Lily Lesslie Circle at Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church. She and her husband, Rudy, were known far and wide for their beautiful roses, and were members of the Charlotte Rose Society and the American Rose Society. She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club in Rock Hill for many years. Nancy and Rudy opened Orr's Flower Shop in 1971 and after Rudy's death in 1982, Nancy continued to operate the business until she retired in 2005, but continued to assist others with flowers for weddings and other special occasions. Nancy was loved by all who knew her for her unselfish and generous spirit. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00-7:00pm at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Rick and Patsy Surratt, 5603 Harmony Church Road, Edgemoor, S.C. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 3:00pm at First A.R.P Church, 201 East White Street, Rock Hill, S.C. with Revs. Dr. J. Barry Dagenhart and Dr. Robert J. Robinson officiating. Burial will be private. The family requests that memorials be made to First A.R.P. Church Organ Fund, 201 East White Street, Rock Hill, S.C. 29730 or to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, S.C. 29731
