Neil Wayne Lambert of Summerville, SC passed away on July 31, 2024, in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the age of 78. A cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Neil was born on April 15, 1946, in Sheridan, Indiana to Doyle Wayne Lambert and Elsie Nevada McCarty.
Neil led a life marked by love, dedication, and adventure. Growing up in Sheridan, Indiana, Neil developed a strong work ethic and a zest for life in his youth while working on the family farm and traveling the country for competitive roller skating. This foundation carried him through his successful career in the automobile tire and service industry, as a charter boat captain on Lake Michigan, and as a business owner and Financial Consultant in Summerville, South Carolina, where he served his clients faithfully for the last 20 years with Act Advisors in Asheville, NC.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Neil was a dedicated member of the American Legion. As an avid cyclist, he was beloved by the Charleston, SC road bicycle community, and a proud member of the Charleston Cycling Team. He tackled Mount Mitchell in North Carolina several times and rode his bike wherever he traveled, including 49 of the 50 states.
Neil had 2 children with his former wife, and they moved from Michigan to Charleston, SC in the mid 1980s. Here he met and went on to marry his best friend Kathleen (Kat) Anderson on April 26, 2006. They made countless memories together while traveling the country in their RV with their beloved dog Lola making friends, kayaking, cycling, and fishing in the Florida Keys, which he considered his second home.
Neil is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Lambert; beloved children with Gwendolyn Anderson-Fish, Heather Merinkers (Nick) and Brian Lambert (Donna); adored granddaughters, Miranda Merinkers, Haley Cabre, Caitlin and Maleah Lambert; and treasured grandson, Matthew Lambert; his loving extended family, including stepchildren Dewey L. Stokes Jr., Lindsey Scott (Paul), and beloved grandchildren Leah Daigler (Thomas), Logan and Morgan Stokes, and Gracie Scott.
Neil was predeceased by both his parents; his sister, Jean Ann; and his brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Lambert. A memorial service will be held on September 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Christ, located at 413 Old Trolley Rd, Summerville, SC 29485. A private interment for the family will follow on September 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St, Beaufort, SC 29902. Neil’s legacy of love, zeal for life, and fun-loving spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
