Norma Clark Thompson, 83, of Rock Hill, SC went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 2, surrounded by her family. Norma was born April 7, 1941 in Kings Mountain, NC, to George and Thelma Rawls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Manley Clark, Winifred Gregory, and Fred Clark, as well as her children, Andrew Thompson and Shannon Ellis.
Norma, known better to her grandchildren by Gammy, never met a stranger. She spent her time filling any need that she could find, watching a Gamecocks football game, or spending time with her family. Norma first obtained a degree in Library Science and worked as the Children’s Librarian for York County Public Library. She then went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was a registered nurse for the remainder of her career. She touched countless lives during her time with the library, and numerous medical facilities.
She leaves a lasting legacy to her survivors, her husband of 46 years, Donald Thompson; her son, Ben Strozier and wife Cathy Strozier, her daughter Madison Strozier, and step-daughter Lisa Pope; grand-children, Savanah, Ricki, Zach, Rebekah, Jordan, Rileigh, and Maelee; great grand-children, Keagan, Kendall, Ashton, Carter and Aria.
Visitation with the family will be held at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home at 11:00 on April 8, followed by the service in their chapel and burial at Mt. Holly Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Holly Methodist Church.
