Mr. Norman Matthew Rushing, Jr., 83, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.A memorial service will be held for Mr. Rushing in the chapel at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. The family will receive friends following the service. Born in Great Falls, SC on February 5, 1934, Mr. Rushing was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and the University of South Carolina. He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 23 years, including two tours in Vietnam. Following his military retirement, he was a civilian instructor at Fort Jackson in Columbia, a Constable for York County, and retired from the York County Sheriff's Department as a lieutenant. Mr. Rushing was also a Mason. Mr. Rushing is survived by his daughter, Norma Oates (John); his son, David Rushing (Linda); his grandson, Matthew Rushing, four additional grandchildren, a great grandchild, two brothers and a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his son, Kenneth, and his brother, William. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care/Wayne T.
