Rock Hill, SC

Olivia Duncan Stalcup, 85, of Rock Hill, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born January 25, 1939, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Duncan and Mary Emma Caveny Duncan.

Olivia met and married Max L. Stalcup in 1963, and the couple settled down in Rock Hill, where she lived her entire life. She was employed at The Herald newspaper for more than 30 years, beginning her career as an Inserter and moving up the ranks to become Circulation Customer Service Manager before she retired. When not working, Olivia spent her time reading, planting flowers, gardening and enjoying nature. Her home was and still is a haven for all types of birds. Her favorite was the hummingbird, and she made sure that her many feeders were always full. She was a smart, feisty, beautiful woman who was loved by all who knew her.

Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max Leon Stalcup, Sr., brothers Ithama, Pete, Tommy, Strait and Bobby Duncan; and sisters Martha Craig, Mary Lewis and Marie Hudspeth.

Surviving her are daughters Leona Perry (husband Brandy), Bonnie Stalcup (fiancé Richie), Renee Stalcup (partner Brad), Scottie Marsengill (husband Chris); son Max Stalcup, Jr. (partner Melissa); grandchildren Devin McDonald (husband Jack), Rebecca Nestle (husband Tanner), Colton Perry, Tyler Marsengill, Christopher Marsengill; and great grandchildren Hailey Nestle, Peyton McDonald and Bryce McDonald. Also, her beloved dogs Gus, WeeWee and Sasha.

In lieu of a service, Olivia wanted her family to have a Celebration of Life. This will be held at the family home on November 9, 2024. All who knew Olivia are welcome, and we would like everyone to share their stories about her life.  More information about the event will be shared via email and social media closer to the date of the event.
