Rock Hill - Mrs. Oree McCants, Farthing, 95, the ultimate prayer warrior went home to be face to face with her Savior on Sunday, August 12, 2012.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Oakdale Baptist Church.
Mrs. Farthing was an educator in Rock Hill #3 and York #1. She was the first principal of Oakdale School in Rock Hill. She served as a teacher and a speech therapist until she retired at 78. She worked as a speech therapist with Head Start in York and Chester Counties. Children were her life. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School through 2007. She had been a Sunday School teacher since she was sixteen years old.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Andre'; a grandson; three sisters, Ruth Weaver of Scranton, SC, Jacqueline Williams of Arlington Heights, Illinois and Janice Hicks of Franklin, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Farthing and her daughter, Jean Duncan.
Memorials may be made to any Hospice organization.
