Pastor Bobby Matthews

Lancaster - Pastor Robert "Bobby" Reid Matthews, 53, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2016, at Whitesell Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Roddey officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park - Cherry Road.

Born in Charlotte, NC Pastor Matthews was a son of Betty Coley Matthews and the late Charles Reid Matthews, Jr. He was a compassionate and loving husband, son, brother, cousin and friend to many. He was the Pastor of Grace and Truth Baptist Church, Lancaster, SC which was the sister church of Cornerstone Baptist Church - Rock Hill, SC. He will be remembered as an avid guitar player, singer and songwriter. He enjoyed preaching and teaching God's Word.

Surviving are his wife, Becky Roddey Matthews; his mother, Betty Coley Matthews; sister, Rachel Matthews, all of Lancaster, SC; an aunt, Faye Matthews Bradshaw and Uncle, Danny Bradshaw of McBee, SC; and his sweet dog companion, Rose.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Whitesell Funeral Home.
