Patricia Marie McCutcheon, a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on September 8, 1943, in Buffalo, New York, Patricia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Krantz) Michalski. She grew up in western New York and spent many years in Lancaster before eventually making her home in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Patricia was the very definition of love — sweet, caring, and endlessly kind. Her warmth touched everyone she met, and her gentle spirit left a mark that will never fade. Whether offering a comforting hug, a kind word, or simply sharing her presence, she made the world feel softer and better. To know her was to love her, and all who knew her were truly lucky to call her theirs.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Sonny” McCutcheon; her father, Joseph; her mother, Theresa; her brother, Joseph Michalski Jr.; and her daughter-in-law, Nancy McCutcheon. She is survived by her sister, Linda Stewart; her son, Micheal McCutcheon; her daughter, Carrie Reiter and her husband Kenneth Reiter; and her five grandchildren: Micheal McCutcheon Jr., Cody Reiter, Jesse Reiter, Kassie Reiter, and Holly Reiter — each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
A woman of many talents, Patricia was the former owner and operator of Plaza Liquors in Lancaster, NY. Over the years, she worked countless jobs, always bringing her signature warmth and humor. Most recently, she was a cashier at Harris Teeter, where customers would wait in line just for the chance to share a moment and a laugh with her.
She loved playing Bingo, Bunco, and Bridge, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Her sense of humor was as memorable as her love — her favorite saying, “what the shit,” never failed to make those around her laugh.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. Following the service, a celebration of her life will be held at Towne Tavern, a Buffalo-themed bar in Fort Mill — a fitting tribute for a woman who carried the spirit of Buffalo wherever she went.
The world is a little dimmer without her light, but her love lives on in all who knew her.
