Paul Chancellor Long, Jr.

Paul Long, age 87, of Fort Mill, SC passed away unexpectedly Wednesday August 7, 2013 at CMC-Pineville, NC with his wife and daughter by his side. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul C. Long and Emma Dymond Long Bereit. He served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in WWII prior to completing his degree in Education from the University of Dayton in Ohio. Paul went to work with the Defense Construction Supply Company in Columbus, Ohio as the Chief of Contract Administration, where he worked for 33 years before retiring. After retirement Paul continued to work, finding fulfillment in collecting outstanding insurance claims for hospitals in Columbus, Ohio with Patient Account Management Systems. In 1997, Paul and his daughter, Jennifer, opened Medical Account Recovery Services, Inc. in High Point, NC where he worked for 10 years. Paul loved golf, traveling and spending time with his family. He also had a strong belief in Jesus Christ, which transcended through his personality. Paul is survived by is wife of 50 years, MaryAnne (Troup) Long, Daughter, Jennifer Stansbery, Grandchildren Sophia and Spencer Stansbery, Son John Long (Suzanne) Grandchildren Isaac and Aaron Long, Sister Jane (Long) Ballard and Brother George Long (Lorraine), nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Unity Presbyterian Church, 303 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, SC on Monday, August 12, at 2:00 PM with a reception immediately following the service at MaryAnne's home, 355 Miners Cove Way, Fort Mill, SC 29708. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Unity Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1267, Fort Mill, SC 29716 or to St. Judes Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
