On Sunday, February 28, Paul Martin Mockovciak, loving husband and father of three children, passed away in his sleep, at the age of 82 in his home at Heritage Community/Morning Star Ministry.
Paul was born on May 27, 1938 in Queens, New York, to John and Elizabeth Mockovciak. After honorably serving in the United States Air Force, he worked for 31 years as an Assistant Architect in the New York State Department of Public Works, and then as Supervisor/Facilities Coordinator for New York State Division for Youth. On September 3, 1960, he married Emily Ann Maytan. They raised three sons.
After retiring in 1991, Paul and Emily served with a number of Christian ministries in New York, Hawaii, Asia and Israel. Paul was an ESL instructor, a passionate prayer warrior, an excellent friend, and, supporter of the State of Israel. He unreservedly loved people from every corner of the world. He devoted his life to unselfishly caring for the needs of others. He was a great listener and known as a father and grandfather in the Christian faith. A person of integrity, who possessed a quick wit, welcoming smile, and a generous, kind and compassionate spirit. His door was always open.
Paul leaves a large family and many friends who will treasure his memory, remember him with love, and feel his loss every day. He is survived by his wife Emily, his three children, Paul(Lillian), Michael (Alice), and James, 6 grandchildren, Ben(Ashley), Lauren (Alex), Matthew, Jordan (Preston), Nicolas and Stefan; and 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Elena, Greyson and Sadie.
A wake and funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Palmetto Funeral Home (2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708) from 4-6PM, and 6-7PM, respectively. Flowers may be ordered through Cindys Flower Shop (at 1138 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732/ph. 803-327-6060).
