Peggie Hailey

Chamblee, GA Peggie Hammer Hailey of Chamblee, GA passed away on March 10, 2015 at the age of 78. Peggie was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School and Queens College. One of her greatest joys was singing in her Westminster Presbyterian Church choir. She also cherished her time with Harold Hailey, her husband of 48 years. Peggie adored her only child and son, Jim Hailey. She also drew great strength from daughter-in-law Brenda Hailey and grandchildren Jeanna Hailey and Zach Hailey. Peggie was also particularly proud of the yearly Hammer family Thanksgiving feast that she hosted for 16 years while living in Rock Hill, SC. Peggie is preceded in death by husband Harold Hailey, father Thurman Hammer, mother Kathleen Hammer and brothers Kenneth Hammer, Douglas Hammer and Melvin Hammer. In addition to Jim, Brenda, Jeanna and Zach Hailey, Peggie is survived by sisters Madeline Tanner, Nancy Boyd, Brenda Robinson, Mott Morrison and Vickie Elliott. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
