Peggy Goins Burton

Mrs. Peggy Goins Burton, 68, passed away Friday October 31, 2008 at The Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. She was surrounded by family and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly. Mrs. Burton was born May 2, 1940 in Greensboro, NC to the late Martin Samuel and Edith Irene Simpson Goins. She was one of five daughters. She graduated from Greensboro High School and later moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina. She gave 21 years of proud service to the City of Rock Hill before retiring in 2002 from the Detective Division of Rock Hill Police Department. Mrs. Burton was a member of West End Baptist Church where she was a proud member of the Cheerful Servants Sunday School Class. She also attended Eastview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William H. Burton and three sisters Betty Greer, Maxine Cobb and Beverly Greer. Sorrowfully surviving her are her two children Martin Samuel Hinson and his wife Stephenie and Amy Burton Huggins and her husband Michael; four grandchildren and one great grandson. She is also survived by her sister Sherrill Bowman and her husband Ward. Missing her dearly will also be aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Mrs. Peggy Goins Burton will be forever missed and never forgotten. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Burton will be held Sunday at 3:00pm in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Martin officiating. Interment will be a later date at Eastview Baptist Church Cemetery.
