Penny Medford

Rock Hill - Mrs. Penny Medford of 1911 Smith's Circle, Rock Hill went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009.

She was born July 11, 1946, in Gastonia, N.C., to the late Lorene Mullinax and was preceded in death by her stepfather, JW Mullinax. She was a member of Oakwood Acres Baptist Church, where she was the WMU leader. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a great love for children. She touched many lives through her loving kindness. She was employed by Smith Enterprises for many years and also by Cindy's Flowers.

Surviving are her husband, Archie Medford; two sons, Sidney Medford and his wife, Joan and Jeff Medford and his wife, Robin; her daughter, Tammy Medford Wise and her husband , Paul, all of Rock Hill; one brother, Tony Ferguson of Anchorage, Alaska;one sister, Peggy Wheeler of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church, 830 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, with the Rev. Jeramy Herring, the Rev. Robert Alvord and the Rev. Larry McClure officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Oakwood Acres Baptist Church, 2212 Burton Street, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
