Phyllis Ann DeMaio, 60, of Indian Land, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was born on August 20, 1964 in Staten Island, NY to the late Joseph Sr and Angelina Misuraca. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Leonard Misuraca.
She was the beloved wife of Frank DeMaio, with whom she shared 35 years with. She leaves behind a son, Jonathan, and daughters, Kaileigh and Rebecca. Along with her brother Joseph (wife Aundrea). She also leaves behind nieces and nephews: Nicole, Alexandra (husband Ovi), Anthony, Vincent, Victoria (husband Dylan), Matthew, and Christopher. Great nephews Cristiano and Jensen.
She graduated from Staten Island Community College with a degree in nursing in 1987. A career she passionately had for 37 years. She prided herself on the care and compassion she displayed to everyone she interacted with, including all of the patients over the years. In addition to being a nurse, Phyllis was a devoted mother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and family. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Growing up she attended dozens of antique car shows, often having her summer family vacations centered around them. She was a lover of all things Disney and enjoyed just about every Beatles song ever created. More recently she spent her free time attending live shows at the Belk Theater- Charlotte.
She had an unwavering faith in the Lord throughout her life, attending St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte. Phyllis will best be remembered as being a fighter, Disney-fanatic, and meatball making machine. She will be deeply missed, leaving a significant void in all our hearts.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all nurses, physicians and staff, her beloved coworkers, and all family and friends for their unwavering compassionate and supportive care that was provided. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
