Phyllis Reid Darnell Knight

Phyllis Reid Darnell Knight, 86, of Pineville, NC passed away on Sunday March 29, 2020.

Phyllis was born on September 20, 1933 in Pineville to the late H. D. Darnell and Elizabeth Satterfield Allen. Phyllis was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where she played the bells and served on the Bereavement Committee. For most of her life, she was a member of Stough Memorial Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for several years. She later worked as the secretary for the Town of Pineville for 22 years.

Phyllis loved caring for others, country music, and enjoyed dancing. She enjoyed playing cards with her Pineville family and friends on Fridays and Sundays and going to Cracker Barrel. Maw-maw Knight loved cooking chocolate and biscuits for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Johnie Knight, husband of 53 years, who was the love of her life.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Risa Lail and husband Mark of Lancaster, Beth Tillman of Indian Land, nephew, Stacey Darnell and wife Ivy of Greenwood, SC. Also surviving are her six grandchildren: Marcel (Paula), Marci, Harley (Sara Frances), Tully (Katie), Tyler and Maggie. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Jase, Pierce, Spencer, Caleb, Marley, Johnnie, and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday , June 13, 2020 at 11:00AM at Pineville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local Hospice organization of the donor's choice.
