Radford E. King, 84, of 962 Quail Drive, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his residence. A native of Macon, GA, Mr. King was born May 29, 1925 a son of the late H.C. and Pearl Griffin King. He was a Graduate of Mercer University, member of the Army Air Force during WW II having served in the C.B.I. Theater. Mr. King worked 7 years in the textile business and 30 years for Inland Container Corporation where for the last 15 years he was General Manager of the Rock Hill Plant. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, was past president of the Rock Hill Country Club, past president of the Rock Hill Y.M.C.A., past president of the Rock Hill Kiwanis Club and was past Lt. Governor of the Carolinas District of Kiwanis. Mr. King is survived by his wife of 59 years Barbara Pinkston King; five children Kathryn Roger s of Cumming, GA, Rodney King and his wife Debbie of Rock Hill, Karen Beaty and her husband Bill of Rock Hill, Jenny Pate and her husband Michael of Safety Harbor, FL, and Peggy Cody of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren Milton Beaty and his wife Amiee of Rock Hill, Leigh Beaty of Charlotte, Jessica McManus of Charlotte, Seth McManus of Conway, Garrett McManus with the U.S. Air Force stationed in Afghanistan , Emily and Abigail Pate of Safety harbor, FL and Caroline Cody of Rock Hill. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. King will be held Friday at 3:00pm at Oakland Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bob Schrum officiating. A private family graveside will be held prior to the church service at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730
