Ralph Crawford Morrison

November 17, 1932 — April 29, 2015

Mr. Ralph Crawford Morrison, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Born to Elmer and Elsie Morrison on November 17, 1932, in Manhattan, Illinois, Ralph spent his youth working on the family farm where he raised animals and grew crops during the height of World War II. He was married to his bride, Norma Charlotte Morrison, on March 20, 1954, and was deployed to Korea with the 178th Army battalion shortly after their month long honeymoon which was spent touring the United States. Ralph served seventeen months as an E-4 Specialist 3rd Class in the United States Army helping to protect Freedom Bridge, the only bridge still intact to link North and South Korea, with only eighteen guns in his battalion. In 1956, he returned to Illinois to work as an electrical engineer for Keck Electric and Joliet Equipment corporations, founding his own electrical systems company, Quad Plus, Inc., in 1994. Ralph and Norma moved to Fort Mill, South Carolina, in 1997, in order to expand their business operations and be closer to their children.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Elsie Morrison; brother, Reese Morrison; and son, Bruce Morrison. Surviving is his wife, Norma Morrison of Fort Mill, S.C.; daughters, Sandra and her husband, Robert Frank, of Salem, O.R., and Sherri and her husband, Danny Archie, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and son, Scott and his wife, Anne Morrison, of Fort Mill, S.C. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rachaele Otto, Nicholas (Laura) Otto, Kristin (William) Ditto, Jordan Archie, Lauren Archie, Cameron Roberts, Alina Roberts, Julian Roberts, Amelia Morrison, and one great grandchild, Jackson Otto.

Ralph loved traveling around the United States and Europe with Norma to visit family and friends, and welcomed many people to stay in his home for short and extended visits. He was an avid craftsman, always working on projects for his home, family, and for the community. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, and served on the Board of Directors of the Fort Mill History Museum. Ralph looked forward to his annual YMCA snowmobiling trip to Yellowstone, and could be found every morning at five o'clock a.m. enjoying breakfast at Cracker Barrel in the company of his friends.

Memorials in Ralph's honor may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, the Bill Glass Prison Ministry, and the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
