Ralph Toney Stikeleather , 90, of Taylorsville, NC, passed away at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC on Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was born September 22, 1927 in Waxhaw, NC, son of the late Edgar E. and Beulah Teague Stikeleather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Frances Hallman Stikeleather; son, Eddie Stikeleather; brothers, Ronald Stikeleather and Clifford Stikeleather; and sisters, Margaret Sargent and Violet Chapman.
Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII with the Seabees in the 121st Construction Battalion. He spent 14 months at Saipan with the Seabees doing various construction tasks and was a member of the American Legion Post 43 of Fort Mill for 56 years. He ran his own TV and appliance repair business in the 1960s and 1970s in Fort Mill and retired from Comporium. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Hejaz Temple Scottish Rites. Ralph served on the Flint Hill Fire Department Board of Directors for 10 years. He enjoyed time spent saltwater fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. Ralph adored his family and friends, the annual Stikeleather Family Reunions and the precious time spent with his soulmate during his later years in life, Sara Culp. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Deborah L. Woodruff of Fort Mill, Baxter L. Stikeleather and wife, Cynthia of Taylorsville, NC, Mary Jo Stikeleather of Garner, NC and Freida S. Jennings and husband, David of Fort Mill; nine grandchildren, Jason Stikeleather, Clay Stikeleather, Christopher Stikeleather, Matt Jennings, Amanda Jennings, Elizabeth Jennings, Johnny Woodruff, Carrie Hatfield, Amy Woodruff; fourteen great-grandchildren, Logan, Corbin, Peyton, Harrison, Alexis, Pierson, Emma, Skylar, Greysen, Tanner, Silas, Louella, Finn and Colby.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 PM, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Fort Mill. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
