Ray J. Mullis, 81, formerly of 1365 Ebinport Road, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. Mr. Mullis had resided at Westminster Towers for the last 6 years. A native of Monroe, NC, Mr. Mullis was born February 3, 1930 son of the late Dewey F. and Virgie Mae Polk Mullis. He was a self-employed contractor and Merchant Seaman. Mr. Mullis was a US Marine veteran and member of First Baptist Church Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Griffin Mullis. Surviving are his daughter Sherry Ward and her husband Will of Rock Hill; a son Rocky Mullis and his wife Carol of Hilton Head, SC; a sister Ada Mae Hunter of Huntersville; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Mullis will be held Friday at 3:00pm in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Hogg officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park on S. Cherry Road. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until the hour of service on Friday and other times at the home of his daughter 4525 Dublin Ct. in Rock Hill. In lieu flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
