Raymond G Rollison

d. March 2, 2025

Fort Mill, SC

Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, “Pappy” and Friend

Ray Rollison, 74, of Fort Mill, SC went to be with the Lord with family by his side on March 2, 2025. Born in Leesburg, VA to Norman and Anna Rollison, Ray was a devoted husband to his wife, Lynn, and loving father to children Deena and Todd.

Raised in Virginia, Ray attended Loudon County High School where he was nicknamed “Moose” and he excelled at football, baseball and basketball. He married Lynn Collins, his high school sweetheart in 1969. This marked the beginning of many great adventures for them, culminating in 56 years of marriage.

Throughout his years, Ray enjoyed many passions and hobbies. He loved the outdoors-hunting (deer/pheasant/quail/duck) and fishing, golfing, old westerns and black and white movies from the 30s & 40s.

Ray was a collector of antique guns, knives and coins and loved to share what he knew about their history. He also shared a deep love and connection with his pets.

He enjoyed following sports, history and current events. If you needed to know something, Ray always had the answer no matter the subject.

Ray was so kind to all of us. To know him was to love him. A literal legend and the most unforgettable person you would ever meet. As everyone who ever met him knows, he was an EPIC storyteller as well as a silly songwriter and dancer. He also was given many nicknames by those who love him and these will forever be remembered -- Baby Raymie, Lonnie and The Gibbs just to name a few.

Ray had a successful career in produce marketing and merchandising that spanned decades and took him all over the country. He was featured on the news, taught at colleges and won numerous awards. Over the years, he and his wife Lynn were able to live in many beautiful states including California, Tennessee and Arkansas. While some of those jobs took him on private jets and to famous restaurants, his favorites were always the ones where he could connect with the farmers and the land. He was a true people person who always listened intently and made friends wherever he went. Amidst his adventures, one of his jobs took him to Little Rock, Arkansas. This proved to be a pivotal move not because of the job but because it was there that he rededicated his life to the Lord. Following those days, he lived the rest of his life for Jesus and sharing the Gospel. Ray served as an elder in church and led bible studies, but his greatest passion was the altar ministry where he could connect with people and pray for their greatest needs.

Ray was predeceased by his son Todd Rollison, his brother Charles Rollison (Ruth) and his sister Shirley Fulcher (Tom).

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn, his daughter Deena Trainor (Chris); he was the cherished Pappy to Rocco Trainor, beloved brother to Charlotte Staubs (Louis), brother-in-law to Kathy Whitman (Brian) and Kenny Collins.

A memorial service to honor Ray will be held at a later date.
