A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Trimnal was a daughter of the late Bob Kenneth Merrill and Carol Wooley Merrill.

Rene spent her life in the service of others, first her family, and then everyone else she met. She raised nine of her own children and mothered countless others, including those she welcomed into her home to stay and the many others she couldnt send away without a meal and her love. Her genuine desire to make sure everyone she met was taken care of meant she sought out those who needed someone. She found a way to be the someone who could be there for them. She spent what she thought of as the greatest part of her life as a homemaker, building a life for herself and her family, teaching them the skills they would need in life, the love of learning that would open the world to them, and the foudation of faith that would keep them anchored no matter where their lives could lead them. Her greatest desire was for those in her life to find joy and to have her family with her in Eternity. Her faith was so much a part of her that to know her was to know her love of God.

Surviving are four sons, Joel Bales, Bob Trimnal and his wife Cathey, Thom Trimnal and his wife Mary, and Sam Trimnal and his wife Kristi; five daughters, Jenne Kekoolani and her husband Hank, Caryn Patel and her husband Hamant, Becky Magalogo and her husband Tou, Kathy Christensen and her husband Jud and Heather Taylor and her husband John; two brothers, Ken Merrill and Kevin Merrill.
