Rhonda Witherspoon Buckner

Fort Mill, SC – Mrs. Rhonda Witherspoon Buckner, 69, went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

The family will receive friends 2:30 – 3:45 pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Greater Life Baptist Church, 17025 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC 28277.  A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Tim Blue officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Mooresville, NC Mrs. Buckner was a daughter of the late Billy Witherspoon and Aliene Curtis Benfield.  She retired from Mecklenburg County after working 28 years where she served as the Land Record Manager.  After her retirement she began working at Greater Life Baptist Church as a member of their preschool team.  As a faithful member of Greater Life Baptist Church, she also enjoyed her ministry in the children’s department.  She will be remembered as a lady who enjoyed activities such as cheerleading, sewing, bowling, playing softball and gardening.  One of her favorite past times was spending time at the beach with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Michael D. Buckner; three children, Amber Boan, Stephanie Sanchez (Mark), and Chad Buckner; two brothers, Gary Witherspoon (Cathy) and Rickey Witherspoon (Carol); a sister-in-law, Liz Buckner; two grandchildren, Sophia Sanchez and Judah Sanchez; five nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by father-in-law, Lewis “Buck” Buckner and mother-in-law, Lizzie Buckner.
