Richard Hammel

Richard "Rick" Alan Hammel,42, of Tega Cay, SC, went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2012 at Carolina's Medical Center in Pineville, NC. He was born on March 31, 1969, in Parkersburg, WV, and was the son of Sharon Wright Hammel and the late Robert F. Hammel, Sr. Rick was an IT professional at Time Warner Cable. Rick was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan and he enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle with his fellow Rock Hill HOG members. Rick is survived by his wife, Donia Hammel; three sons, Evan, Chase and Brody, all at home; two brothers, Robert F. Hammel, Jr. and his wife, Carol; Kevin Jay Hammel and his wife, Tami all of Parkersburg, WV. Rick is also survived by five nephews and two nieces; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Glenda Beddow and brother-in-law, W. Derrick Beddow. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Hammel, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Harry and Helen Wright and paternal grandparents, William and Ella Hammel, and sister-in-law Tammy Sanford Hammel . A memorial service to be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Palmetto Funeral Home, in Fort Mill, SC, with visitation beginning at 6:00 pm. In addition, a memorial service will be held in Parkersburg, WV, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill, SC.
